To keep a body healthy and keep diseases at bay, you must provide all the nutrition a body needs on a daily basis. Traditional Chinese medicine had it right because doctors did not differentiate between medication and food; they were completely intertwined. Modern westerners depend too much on medication to treat the symptoms of physical ailments instead of treating the source of the problem.
I think the best way to fight colds, flu, and even disease is to develop the most effective and strong immune system possible. The question is: “How do we do that?”
We need help to figure out what will support and maintain a healthy immune system. It all depends on what we eat and what we don’t eat. That’s where it starts to get difficult. It is difficult to get all of our nutrition from the food we eat. For example, a shortage of magnesium, a mineral critical to providing our cells’ energy supply can cause muscle cramps and spasms. Magnesium is found in deep-green leafy vegetables like spinach, kale, and collard greens.
Another example is vitamin D3, a natural cancer killer. Western medicine has finally recognized the need for D3 and have started testing for it in blood panels.
Also a very important component for keeping your immune system in top shape is Omega 3 oils. They serve to keep your cholesterol in balance. There are many sources for Omega 3 oils, but I prefer them from fish.
These are three examples of what we need to supplement in our diets. Just as important is what we should avoid eating to keep our immune system at an optimum. That will be the subject of another blog.
As a Naprapath I will not only balance your muscular/skeletal system, a very important component is supporting a healthy immune system. I can also advise you what you should eat to build a strong and healthy immune system, and can also provide you with other sources of information and assistance.
